STYLE GURU BIO: Libby Bartley

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been captivated by the concept of creating a masterpiece and calling it an outfit. Between matching patterns and colors with vintage jewels and statement makeup, from an early age, I found some sort of magic in playing dress-up with oversized thrift shop hand-me-downs and my mother’s favorite shade of lipstick. As I’ve aged, I’ve become enthralled by unlikely color combinations, the beauty of layered lace, the texture of flannels and the statement that can be made from an aged Led Zeppelin graphic T-shirt when accompanied with a glamorous statement necklace. For a woman, regardless of her age, there is something liberating about the confidence that comes from expressing yourself through fashion.

Living in Eugene, Oregon is like living in a creative space for fashion expression. The people here are full of life and ambiguous ideas that are translated through their sense of style. Being surrounded by this type of environment has given me the confidence and expression to develop my style by trying new things and searching for treasures in unexpected places. While this small town in Oregon cannot compare to the fashion trends that flaunt themselves around Paris and New York City, fashion is present here and it is exciting to be evolving in the thick of it. The way I see it, fashion defines who we are as individuals and the opportunity of working on behalf of the CollegeFashionista team allows me to share a piece of myself with all of you. So here’s to blog posts that become love letters, outfits that become armor and everyday women who become extraordinary trendsetters.
