In a nutshell, I am a California girl with a Chicago state of mind. While I was born and raised in sunny Southern California, I chose to attend college in Chicago. I know, who would want to leave a place that rarely reaches below 60 degrees? My intentions had seldom to do with the drastic weather difference I was about to experience, and more to do with how I can get the most out of studying fashion. I knew going to an art school in the city was a way I could build strong connections with other creative minds and explore the endless world that the fashion industry has to offer. I say that I have a Chicago state of mind because to me, Chicago is a place where there is a strong work ethic; everyone has places to go and people to see. If you know me, you would know that I am always writing lists of things to get done and I never procrastinate. When it comes to my everyday life, I try to live in the moment and capture every opportunity I come across.
Going to school in Chicago has positively impacted my life so far and most definitely my fashion choices. It’s safe to say I have two different styles whether I’m in California or Chicago. In Chicago, you can see me making a beeline for the train in an edgy leather jacket, black booties and ripped jeans. In California, I can be spotted at the beach walking my dog in some lace up sandals and a floral maxi dress. No matter where I am, I keep my outfits fairly neutral. And I never leave the house without my sunglasses! In this outfit I show my bohemian side wearing a striped maxi dress with a burnt orange knit cardigan. I accessorized with a small silver choker and my usual silver rings to tie the look together.
Whatever city I end up in, I hope to pursue my career in fashion by becoming a buyer or visual merchandiser for a major department store. Although I am spending these next few months in California, I am excited to have a RAD summer where I will capture and share stylish people out here!
