STYLE GURU BIO: Lizzie Tonner

Ever since I could dress myself I’ve had a love for fashion. I can still imagine the green dress covered with strawberries I paired with purple tights for my first day of kindergarten. Although my style’s not quite as flashy anymore, my love for the game hasn’t changed (and I’m fairly certain I could still make that outfit work).

I grew up in a small town. Jeans and a T-shirt were the typical attire for class. That’s never really been my style though. I check The Sartorialist on more than a daily basis and follow Alexander Wang‘s news feed like a crazy ex. Waiting for runway shows to go viral is what I have a phone for. Obviously small town street style just doesn’t quite satisfy my craving for stimuli in the form of killer fabrics the way that Gucci’s latest spring collection does.

My personal style changes every day. Sometimes I aim for comfort, other times I could care less about comfort and look for the highest heels I can find in my closet. My wardrobe tends to fill with dark and neutral colors, but most of the time I’ll be matching with whatever color is popping out of the earth that particular season.

I’m currently taking classes at the University of Iowa studying journalism and working towards a certificate in writing. Once I graduate I plan to relocate to L.A. or N.Y.C. to look for more opportunities in fashion and publication. I’d love to work for Vogue one day, but there’s a million other places in the fashion world I’d be more than happy to work with, too.
