Hello Fashionista/os! My name is Lucy Siyu, and this is my sixth and final Style Guru Bio for CollegeFashionista because I’ll be graduating this spring! This is definitely the most bittersweet STYLE GURU BIO yet, because I can’t believe how far I’ve come with the team and how I’ll be departing as a Style Guru after this semester. It’s been the best journey since the summer of 2014 when I first applied as a Style Guru, and how quickly I’ve grown in aspects of discovering trends on campus, photographing street style, translating photographs into words in my articles and engaging with brand partnerships on social media.
There is no doubt that fashion is my biggest passion and what I see myself pursuing for a very long time. CollegeFashionista has certainly helped to assure that for me throughout the year and half. The team has been extremely amazing and made many of my goals and highlights of 2015. I can’t stop being grateful. Many of these highlights include my Self Esteem Project with Dove, which I hosted with Aisha at my school with a bunch of students engaging in the topic, a Give Back Tuesday event with Old Navy where I shopped for a little girl and wrapped her outfit, multiple brand partnerships, MTV and Seventeen.com features. I had so much fun in every project and I want to give a shout out to everyone on the team for the opportunities and my friends who helped, supported and snapped my photos. Throughout the experience, I’ve grown to be very grateful, humble and even more passionate about what I do.
Personal style wise, I’ve collected more sneakers than dressier shoes. I loved my stages of heeled boots for colder seasons, but I’ve been much more casual. My go-to pair is my adidas Stan Smith in white and pink. Crisp white sneakers go too well with everything. I like to stay cozy in my black duster coat that’s the perfect length for my tall figure. Black destroyed denim also makes a staple and I throw on a cap on occasion. I love dainty and delicate jewelry so I stack my favorite Alex and Ani’s birthstone bangles.
From the very first Style Guru Bio to my sixth and last, I can tell how my style revolutionized and how I progressed with the team. Thank you CollegeFashionista for sparking my college experience and I look forward to the Spring 2016 semester to build on more experience and memories!
