Hi! My name is Lyndsay Moore, and I am a senior at Appalachian State University. I am majoring in apparel design and merchandising with a minor in marketing. I am thrilled to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista because it allows me to share with other Fashionistas my view on this fast-paced world of fashion, apparel, design and accessories.
When it comes to clothes, I have a major weakness for black and white. The majority of my closet is black and white. This chunky white sweater is one of my favorite (and warmest!) pieces during this season. Paired with my favorite pair of Levi Brand Jeans, this is by far one of my best outfits for this season. One of my favorite categories of apparel and fashion is accessories. Shoes are my absolute favorite thing to purchase. My combat boots are so comfy and are perfect for going to class then going straight to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a hike! I’m a firm believer that the accessories you choose can make or break your outfit. I can’t even begin to express to you all how much of an impact your accessories can have. Watches, bracelets, earrings, scarves and hats are my forte. I am always wearing my watch, and I almost always have earrings in. I usually interchange my third accessory between a necklace, bracelet or scarf, and in the winter, I love a cute toboggan!
One of my favorite quotes is from Harry Gordon Selfridge, former owner of Selfridge’s, and he says, “Do the right thing, at the right time, in the right place.” I believe in this quote because I realize how important timing is with everything you do. This quote also incorporates fashion and apparel principles, as well as my own values and morals. With fashion and apparel, timing and having everything “right” in the moment is so, so important. With me, timing is everything, but so is doing the RIGHT thing.
The quote by H. G. Selfridge inspires me each and every day to continue choosing to pursue my dream. That dream is to own my own boutique and carry all things made by independent designers like myself. I have a passion for making my own clothes and accessories, as well as making items specially made for others.
