Hey, guys! My name is Madeleine and this is the first semester that I will be interning with CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to share it with you. I am a sophomore at Kent State University, studying visual communication design. In my free time, I take as many thrift shopping trips in a week as possible. I love being able to transform something old and vintage into a new modern piece. I am a firm believer in never wearing the same outfit twice so clearly I am a shopaholic.
What I love about fashion, is that I can think an outfit looks absolutely amazing yet someone else may think it is the worst thing they have ever laid their eyes on. Although this happens more often than not with my own family, it justifies the fact that we all are different and there is no greater way to show that than by choosing what we wear. For as long as I can remember, I have loved the idea of having your own personal style that screams you. I sometimes find it difficult to describe my style, but, to me, it is street wear ’90s grunge. Being a design major and living on a campus full of fashion students, it isn’t hard to find inspiration around every corner. I cannot wait to share with you the different styles and brands that I see every day and help you discover the type of outfits that fit for you!
For my first post as a Style Guru, I chose an outfit that really expresses who I am and my personality. Wearing my favorite denim trench coat which could pull together any outfit, on top of a classic band T-shirt. Of course, I had to pair this with my high rise thrifted mom jeans and vintage Nikes! In the details, I am wearing my go-to rounded Ray-Ban sunglasses, layered necklaces and a structured Brandy Melville satchel. The finishing touch to my everyday look is natural makeup and a bold lip color!
