Ciao! I’m Madeline Farina and I’m studying Fashion Merchandising at Kent State University. Although this is my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I won’t be documenting the street style around Kent. Instead, I’ll be capturing the fashion of the stylish Italians in the city of Florence! I am lucky enough to be studying here for a whole semester and I can’t wait to bring the street style of this incredible place to you!
By some small miracle, I was able to get myself to Italy with only one suitcase under 50 pounds and my backpack. This means that I didn’t bring all of the clothes that I usually have access to at home. My sense of style definitely had to adapt to the traveling way of life, which is a small price to pay for living in a stunning city for an entire semester.
Because my suitcase and closet space are limited, I stick to the classics: jeans, t-shirts and white tennis shoes or leather sandals. I do a lot of mixing and matching and every piece of clothing that I have can go together. The trick is to have some colorful accessories, like my belt, to brighten up the outfit. If nothing else, this minimalistic style has definitely taken the stress out of deciding what to wear each day.
After only being here for a couple days, I have completely fallen in love with this city. It is historical and charming, but very modern and lively as well. The beauty of the city is reflected in its resident’s clothing, and I am incredibly excited to be able to share Florence with you.
