Hello Fashionistas! My name is Madeline and I am a junior at Kent State University. Although I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I go to school in Kent, Ohio, this semester I’ll be switching it up a bit and studying in New York City. I couldn’t be more excited.
I have just returned from studying abroad in Florence, Italy for a semester and living there has taught me a lot about style. Italians take fashion very seriously, and every single one of them looks incredibly stylish at all times. It’s a lot of pressure, but I learned that the secret is not about having the latest trends and the most expensive clothes, but rather it was the way one wears the outfit. Italians can make an outfit of a simple sweater, jeans and oxfords look like they belong in Vogue.
Now that I will be living in New York City, I will be exposed to a whole different type of fashion. While Italians are incredibly relaxed and carefree, New Yorkers are the exact opposite. With juxtaposition like that, who knows what my style will be by the end of the semester. For now, I like to stick with wearing classic pieces like turtleneck sweaters and trusty black jeans. Although I love minimalistic pieces, I can’t resist a colorful pair of shoes, like my red studded ankle boots.
This semester in New York is going to be inspiring, eye opening, fast-paced and so much fun. I can’t wait to experience all of the culture and learn the ways of the Big Apple. I know I’ll be able to find the best style on the streets of New York and I can’t wait to share it with you.
