Hello friends and happy summer! I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista again this summer and I hope you all will keep up to date with my new RAD posts that I have in store!
I am happy to say that I have officially made it through my first year of college and so far, I am loving it. I’ll be entering my second year with the fashion school this fall and honestly I cannot wait to go back and start working in the fashion merchandising program. Over the course of the past year, I have finally started piecing together what I want to do with my life (YAY), so I have picked up two minors, one is marketing and the other is French.
Being a total fashion junkie and obsessing over the French language and culture have gone together more perfectly than I could have ever imagined. I love being that weird, geeky girl that sits in one of her fashion lectures and hears a term derived from the French language; it makes me oddly giddy to be honest.
Aside from the chaos of school this past year, I was able to spend my down time focusing on other things that I love without the stress of doing it for school credit. I am on the club gymnastics team at Kent State and joining the club was probably the best decision I made my entire freshman year (that, and always binge watching Parks and Recreation whenever I was stressed).
This fall, I’ll be Vice President of the club and I am so excited to see the progress that we will all make together as a team. A few of my totally rad teammates are also part of the fashion school at Kent, so I always had people to turn to when I just wanted to gush over the new merchandise in the fashion school store or awkwardly obsess over Parisian culture.
While being away from home meant leaving my puppy, my sisters, my family and my friends, I have appreciated and enjoyed every minute of this new journey that I am embarking on. Freshman year allowed me to gain more self-confidence and care a little bit less about what other people around me thought about my interests. Being able to write for CollegeFashionista last semester let me show my peers exactly what I was so passionate about and I can’t wait to do it again. Here’s to a RAD summer! Peace and love.
