Hiya college Fashionistas/os! My name is Madi Guthrie and I am a sophomore studying English and French at the University of Central Arkansas. This will be my first semester interning as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista and I am genuinely looking forward to taking this opportunity to explore and capture the myriad of unique stylish individuals found within my college campus.
Just a bit about me (en général)—I am a Twitter-obsessed teenager, an avocado enthusiast and a die-hard Harry Potter fan. I am a writer of music, poetry and short stories; a reader of things mysterious and eerie, cheesy and romantic, profound and obscure—and a newly discovered fashion addict (which brings me to why I am here now!)
After many years of purchasing clothing, accessories and shoes that I was not truly in love with, I am so happy to say that I finally feel like I am developing my own personal style. Being fashionable, something that I used to be terrified of, has become something that presently allows me to indulge in a form of self-expression that never seems to get old or boring and I love that.
My style is simple. I love to mix blacks, whites and other neutrals with a bold accessory or pair of shoes to create a fun spin on a basic look.  A few of my favorite ways to get fashion inspiration include: reading trendy fashion blogs, watching look book videos on YouTube and watching ’80s movies. In the future, I would love to contribute to the industry by photographing individuals that are not normally represented in the mainstream fashion media. My goal with this internship is to show the various ways fashion and personal style have the powerful capacity to allow individuals of all shapes, sizes and personalities to outwardly portray a side of themselves that otherwise might never be known.
I look forward to seeing what this semester brings!
