I’m so excited to share my journey with you all as a first time being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester. My name is Madison Dietrich and I’m originally from outside of Philly, Pennsylvania. I currently live in Washington D.C. and I’m studying communications at George Washington University. I will forever and always be obsessing over knee-high boots, fur, Kate Spade, MCM studded book bags, glitter, and the choker trend.
Fashion has always been a huge part of my life; it’s been a way for me to express myself. Although following trends does not foster self expression, being able to interpret trends to fit your own personal style does. Style is how we choose to portray ourselves and our confidence. One statement piece can completely change the outfit’s vibe and portrayal. An outfit is a visual representation of your history, emotions, and culture. That’s why I’ve used fashion to strengthen my individuality and creativity.
My style has always been diverse and unique. I couldn’t say my personal style in one word because it’s girly, urban, trendy, and glamorous. Sequins and glitter tend to take over my wardrobe but I like to accessorize my closet with some chokers or leather jackets. My favorite fashion trend is currently fur, which I chose to use as my statement piece in this look. It’s a staple piece every Fashionista needs in her closet! My fashion inspirations are Rachel Green from Friends, Serena van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl, and of course the fabulous Coco Chanel!
Follow my blog articles this semester to follow the trends and fashions in the streets of D.C. Expect to see some street style, glam, and fashion tips and tricks from yours truly! I can’t wait to expand my knowledge and grow from the CollegeFashionista community.
From the wise words of Coco Chanel, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.”
