Hello queens! My name is Madison O’Keefe and I am a freshman at the University of North Florida. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I cannot be any more stoked! While only a freshman, I know what I want. I am majoring in communications so I may reach my dream of becoming an event planner so that one day I will assist in the planning of New York Fashion Week…a girl can only dream. I am thrilled to follow in my sister’s footsteps and finally join in on all of the #StyleGuruLove! It is an honor to be able to share my deep love of fashion with the CollegeFashionista readers this semester!
When I was young, I would serve up the most outrageous outfits and “model” them around the house for my family. Even with all the boas and sparkly berets, my loving parents supported my gaudy outfits and even volunteered to be my personal photographers. Throughout elementary school, I noticed that I was different from the other kids. Not only was I wearing shimmering dresses and colorful gaucho pants, I was known for never wearing the same outfit twice. As time grew on and I grew older, I could never classify my fashion sense. Scrolling through Twitter, I would see teens my age tweeting things like “I don’t know why some people actually try to look good for school.” For me, school was my time to shine and experiment with my style. The hallways were my catwalk. One day, I would channel my passion for yoga and become a bohemian queen and the next day I would come to school dressed as elegantly as Princess Kate. That is the phenomenal thing about style. You never have to be tied down!
I am thankful for the opportunity to share my passion for fashion, shine a light on fellow Fashionistas and evolve as a Style Guru. Look out CollegeFashionista, the University of North Florida is about to bring the Florida heat!
