I’m Madison Yerke reporting from George Washington University on the latest fashion trends in the District. My only goal is to expand your horizons on what is means to be a Fashionista/o. I feel like we get caught up in just the mainstream fashion trends going on instead of paying attention to the up-and-coming styles. Therefore, there will not just be one type of trend on this page, but everything from formal attire to casual study date ensembles as well.
I would categorize my personal style with influences from American Apparel, Rag & Bone and Brandy Melville basics. Because it’s “new year, new me,” my only resolution is to hone in on minimalist trends and stick with the basics. I’ve also drawn from men’s fashion recently. There are too many days than I can recall wearing Adidas, joggers and a pullover or an oversize T-shirt and skinny jeans.
What better way to start out my semester than with a classic denim-on-denim look to describe me. This outfit is one of my most worn for its ability to rock a totally casual look. It includes a light wash denim jacket from Egrey layered over a plain black T-shirt against classic skinny jeans with ripped knees. Not to mention the always trending Adidas NEO kicks, a nice change from the Stan Smiths and Superstars I can’t seem to escape on campus.
Finally, to give it its final touch, I included a Coach clutch that is the perfect size for the outfit that requires no work. It fits a small wallet, phone and chapstick—really all you need when just grabbing lunch with friends or out running errands!
Fashion is important to me, but so is writing. For a little bit about me, I work on my campus radio station, run (an absurd amount), and believe myself to be a meme connoisseur. Hopefully, this outfit has showcased my personality for you guys.
I can’t wait for this semester with CollegeFashionista. I’m not only excited to report on the latest trends, but also see what my fellow Style Gurus are doing across the country!
