Hello Fashionistas/os! I am thrilled to be returning for my third semester with College Fashionista and to be back on campus with my fellow Style Gurus. Although I am disheartened that summer is over, I have great memories and experiences to reflect on. This summer, I was fortunate enough to work at Michael Kors. I thoroughly loved my job and looked forward to it every day. My co-workers were enthusiastic, bubbly people, not to mention extremely trendy. I loved being around the Michael Kors products and had to physically hold myself back from purchasing everything. I learned a great deal about the retail industry through a hands-on experience. I also learned about selling and how to appeal to a specific customer’s needs and wants, which is important because I plan on majoring in marketing. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to rejoin my coworkers during breaks.
I am really excited for this semester as I move into classes more specific to majors and minor, Marketing, Management and Apparel Merchandising. Currently, I am taking a textiles class. On our first day, we learned that we will be exposed to authentic Chanel and Givenchy fabrics. Needless to say, I was awestruck. I am also partaking in a retail workshop, an intensive course focused primarily on the retail industry and some of the biggest retail companies. We also have the opportunity to travel to the headquarters of some of these companies, such as Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch. We will also have projects that involve creating our own fictional retail company and creating designs and trend boards for this brand. Overall, I am beyond excited.
Every semester, I set certain fashion goals for myself. This semester, my goal is to only have lazy fashion days on the weekend and only wear yoga pants to class once a week. I also want to explore more daring and edgy pieces. I’m excited for you to follow along with my semester. I started my semester with one of my more common looks. I paired a printed billowy skirt with a black crop top. I also added a pair of black flats, walking around campus is exhausting. Here’s to the beginning of a new semester!
