Hey, I’m Mallory! I am a Bay Area native who attends school in Washington, D.C. However, this spring semester I am studying abroad in Copenhagen, which I couldn’t be more excited about.
I am an interdisciplinary major at American University, which means my studies consist of communications, law, economics, and government. I am also a business and entertainment minor, which I added to that long list of subjects once I became serious about pursuing a career in fashion.
Ever since I was in sixth grade I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. However, it wasn’t until more recently that I obtained a huge interest in the fashion industry. When I realized that I could combine my two loves by pursuing a career as a fashion attorney, I knew I had discovered the perfect job for me.
My favorite thing about fashion is that it allows people to showcase to the world either who they are, or who they want to be. Clothes also have the amazing ability to instill confidence in people, allowing them to shine in their own unique way. I know that for me personally, whenever I put on an outfit that I’m super pumped about wearing, it can make my whole day feel so much better. That’s why I am so amazed by the people who are involved in the fashion industry and who help others achieve that feeling. That is most definitely something I wish to be a part of in my future.
When it comes to my personal style, my favorite thing is mixing the masculine and feminine. Over the last couple of years, I have made a point to embrace androgyny by expanding my shopping pursuits to the men’s section in addition to the women’s. There are so many more amazing pieces you can find and outfits that you can create when you don’t allow social norms to limit the clothing that you put on your body. As a Style Guru, I plan to highlight people who embody this concept as well.
