STYLE GURU BIO: Mallory Metzner

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Mallory Metzner, and I am a sophomore mass communications and fashion merchandising double major at the University of Delaware.

Fashion is something that I have always been interested in. Whether it was planning out different outfits to wear throughout the weeks of high school or seeking out trendy items seen in different magazines, I always knew that fashion was meant to be a huge part of my life. I’ve worked in retail for the last three years and I just love being surrounded by the latest fashions. It is a way that I express myself and it makes me who I am. Based on my two majors, I definitely want to go into fashion buying and/or fashion journalism. Of course the ultimate dream would be to have my own fashion talk show. At UD, there is a wide variety of styles, many of which are captivated by students expressing their individuality.

My love for fashion began to show back when I was in elementary school. I always had to find the girliest doll clothes for my Barbies and American girl dolls. I often hosted my own little fashion shows in my playroom. I played dress-up with my friends as a child and in middle school I began to hunt down items to mirror the image of my favorite actresses on Disney Channel. It was only a matter of time before I subscribed to Teen Vogue. Even now I’m still immersed in fashion magazines and fashion journalism by writing for the student-run fashion magazine at my school, “UDress”. I’m also on the magazine’s public relations team.

My closet consists of all kinds of styles. Depending on my mood or the weather, you can find me in a floral dress with my Wanted lace-up boots or a cargo jacket and ripped jeans. My outfits represent who I am and allow me to portray whatever role I feel like. I rarely ever “bum it”. I always give myself enough time in the morning to get ready and ensure that my outfit makes me feel as fabulous and confident as I need to be whether its going to work, class or just hanging out with friends. Some of my most useful items are trendy bags and boots.  I like to have a wide variety of boots to choose from when completing the perfect outfit. You can never have too many. My Michael Kors crossbody is a staple in my daily appearance as it is a convenient and trendy way to carry my phone, money, chap stick and whatever other little things I need. If I’m going to class, I throw my books into my Longchamp bag, which is also significant to my lifestyle of fashion. I’m obsessed with finishing my looks with dangly earrings and bold necklaces.

As I step into my new role as a Style Guru, I can’t wait to see what other trends I will find around campus, and I will surely show them with you!
