Hello! My name is Marguerite Krommes and I am a Kent State sophomore studying Fashion Merchandising and minoring in Dance. As a fashion student, my style is influenced by the many sartorial resources I am privy to, and inspiration is often found in classes, trend reports, runway shows and of course, fellow students. I also take great joy in dance, photography, and graphic design—art forms which come tightly entwined with the fashion world and provide a bounty of visual inspiration. As a keen observer of anything and everything I come across, I find that the greatest beauty comes in the smallest, most unexpected and mundane ways—whether it be through a new color combination, texture, silhouette, or movement.
This outfit is a care-free homage to the end of summer. The neutral color palette allows for me to experiment with varying textures, fabrics, and elements from nature. The gray marl ribbed crop top is one of the most versatile pieces I own. Its peppery texture offsets the darker texture of the charcoal midi skirt beneath it. They are joined by the brown cracked leather belt my dad wore in high school, which also ties into the braided ankle-strap sandals. The natural stone ring reflects the iridescent colors of the mother-of-pearl buttons on the necklace, which mimic the button detail of the oh-so-handy skirt pockets. Overall, this outfit is comfortable, easy, and still appropriate for the hot temperatures back on campus.
I look forward to sharing more with you as the semester progresses. But until then…
