Hey there Fashionistas/os, my name is Maria Inés and I’m a tropical soul from Guatemala City, living in Chicago! I am 21 years old and I am currently studying public relations and advertising at DePaul University! Besides being a full-time student I am also a full-time nail artist at the Soho House Chicago. After graduating I would love to pursue a career in advertising for the fashion industry. This is my first semester as a Style Guru; I am very excited to have the opportunity to share my passion for fashion with you Fashionistas/os and I can’t wait to explore all the different styles I will be seeing around campus this spring.
For my first look, I decided to mix some prints: a striped button-down shirt and a polka-dot sweater. Usually I get scared when mixing prints (because I don’t like outfits to look TOO busy), but sometimes you have to try on different pieces in order to create the perfect match! I decided to wear a mini skirt even though it’s December and I live in Chicago (it was 55 degrees that day so I’m not that cray cray). My favorite black knee-high socks helped me keep my legs warm and added a little more style to my look. In order for my outfit to be complete, I added some accessories, my favorite KORS Michael Kors bangles, a kate spade new york purse and a flappy black hat! I can’t wait for this semester; make sure you read my articles at the beginning of each month!
