Hey, everyone! First thing’s first, my name is Maria Stephens, and this is my third semester with CollegeFashionista and my first time covering fall fashion. I’m a sophomore at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and I study fashion merchandising with a concentration in business and a minor in product development. So far, I’m absolutely loving it!
I spent my summer in my hometown of Chicago, Illinois, and as much as I adore the Midwest, I’m excited to be back. There’s something special about New York and the fashion that comes along with it. I love how people are unafraid to be daring with their style. It’s definitely refreshing. That said, I still admire something understated and minimalistic, and I think I always will.
For me, I like to choose a piece based on the details. I’m overly particular, but I wear the pieces I own to death. For this look, I chose to feature one of my favorite transition pieces from summer to fall, a sleeveless turtleneck. The knit material is perfect for fall, but the silhouette allows you to hang on to those final days of summer. It’s a gorgeous knit sweater, and it will be perfect with a brown leather jacket when it gets too cold to wear on its own. Then, I added a dark wash denim, a staple for the fall season. For shoes, I threw on a pair of neutral ankle booties and to accessorize, I kept it minimal with a gold bracelet.
I cannot wait to capture the fashion on the Marist campus this fall! And, if you’re still wondering how a girl from the Midwest came to be obsessed with fashion and New York City, make sure to check out my other Style Guru bios. Let’s have a rad semester!
