Hello everyone! My name is Maria Stephens, and the start of 2017 marks my fourth semester with CollegeFashionista. It’s amazing to think that I’ve been capturing and writing about college fashion for over a year now. Not only have I enjoyed developing my photography skills and gaining inspiration from students around me, but the style I’ve captured has become a reflection of my own. I admire simple pieces and appreciate style that lasts. I appreciate subtle integrations of trends and find inspiration in people who reinvent classic looks.
As a sophomore at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, I study fashion merchandising with a concentration in business and a minor in product development. Both Marist and New York continuously remind me why fashion is something I am passionate about. It blends creativity with everyday life. Fashion is something unique and personal to each individual, yet it has the ability to tell the story of an era, identifiable to both time and place through merely a hemline, per say. Fashion is interesting and constantly evolving.
I’ve become fascinated by it and admire how everyone has a different take on it. While I tend to wear something understated, such as this rib knit sweater and these light wash jeans paired with my black Seychelles ankle boots, someone else might take these pieces and style them completely different. That’s the beauty of fashion. It’s always changing, yet your personal style is up to you.
I cannot wait to capture the style of students on the Marist campus this semester! In the mean time, if you’re curious about where my fascination with fashion first started, make sure to take a look at a few of my other style guru bios! Here’s to 2017!
