Hello there Fashionistas/os! I’m Marina Dove, and I am currently a junior at Old Dominion University of the lovely southern Virginia, studying Fashion Merchandising. If I’m not found in the local coffee shops around campus eating acai bowls or blueberry muffins while trying to do my homework when actually I’m only on Instagram, then you’ll most likely find me shopping around the local boutiques.
The word “fashion” and/or “style” have not always been apart of my life. I used to be your typical low pony, gaucho wearing awkward girl. But as time went on and my taste grew throughout high school, I finally found my creative niche that I was longing to inherit from my ever so artistic mother. Although my newfound talent wasn’t in drawing or painting, fashion became my art. Fashion soon became and has remained one of my greatest inspirations. The clothing you put on your body whether you want to be in with the trends or rebel away from them all have such a great deeper meaning than just some fabric on your back. I believe that whatever you choose to wear is a masterpiece of your own because it has so much room to tell you all about a person. Personally, when I walk into my closet in the beginning of the day, I first determine how I’m feeling and how I intend to let that sway my day. Through this, my outfit for the day is born.
I talk a lot about how I’m feeling in life because I think it is really important to know how you feel and how you want to feel. That being said, my style will always remain very versatile. I would normally define my daily style as “bohemian-hippie” with a few modern touches. I think this really describes not only my style but who I am as well. You will also see a slight variety in my clothing choices though, as I like to mix up different genres.
In this look, I am wearing one of my favorite ensembles that I can wear with my white pants or on its own. The gray tunic and blue lace slip are from a not-so-local boutique called Plum Crazy in North Carolina. The fringe booties I love adding to neutral color palettes because it still adds an extra pop to my boho/flowy look. I am also an avid lover of layers, and you will definitely be seeing that from me much much more whether it be winter or summer; layers are life. This particular outfit is highlighting on layers in the tunic and slip but also in my jewelry choices. Rings are my thing; I love to switch them up, but if I find one I really love, it will not part with me for a very long time, such as my newest starfish ring.
This will be my first semester getting to create my very own fashion blog, and I cannot wait to get started on this journey heading toward many more exciting things for me. To add to my excitement about blogging my own outfits, I cannot wait to get started hunting down the most original looks on our almost urban campus that is ODU!
