Hey everyone! My name is Marissa Guerard and I am a first time Style Guru attending Salve Regina University in the beautiful, ocean-side city of Newport, Rhode Island. I am studying English communications with minors in dance, marketing and psychology. I am so excited to share my combined love of writing and fashion with you during my favorite season; summer!
Growing up in Weymouth, MA, the land of sweatshirts and yoga pants, I always felt like my style was too dressy. However, being a short 20 minutes from Boston allowed me to admire Fashionistas in the city from afar and inspired my own unique style. Choosing Newport as the place to spend my four college years was definitely a good choice for my inner Fashionista. While I am exposed to the preppy, nautical trends modeled by native Newporters, I am also surrounded by college students with their own unique styles ranging from sporty to boho to chic.
If I had to describe my style in three words, they would be feminine, classic and sophisticated. Being a dancer definitely influenced my style—I was always surrounded by tutus and pointe shoes, which made me grow fond of anything lace and sparkly! My top style icon has always been Audrey Hepburn, as I admire her way of making simple pieces look effortlessly elegant and chic. While I adore timeless shades such as black and neutrals, I love adding a pop of color to my outfit with a cute cross-body bag, funky pair of earrings or killer wedges.
When I am not looking for the latest trends or working on my writing, I enjoy dancing for my school’s dance company, traveling, going to concerts, trying new food and hanging out on the beach. During the summer, I usually travel throughout New England, so I will be able to spot some of the hottest trends in this region for you.
I have so many ideas for my articles this summer and I can’t wait for you all to read them!
