Ever since buying my first Free People top at the age of 12, my personal style has continuously gotten more bohemian. I find myself drawn to natural colors and fibers, interesting textures, oversized garment styles and beautifully constructed knits. It is very rare to find me without some sort of adornment on my head, whether that be a hat, flower crown or headscarf.Â
My two passions that make me feel the upmost fulfilled are fashion and art. I am a senior at Indiana University and have the best two possible majors for my passions, fashion design and textile art. I cross-pollinate fashion design and textile art through weaving and natural dyeing my own fabric yardage. I spend much of my time in my studio space on campus, practicing yoga and hanging out with my adorable cat.Â
I chose this outfit for my STYLE GURU BIO because I felt that it successfully captured the essence of my style, bohemian, yet slightly grunge. I work at Plato’s Closet in Bloomington and I have dangerously large access to used Free People, Zara, Urban Outfitters, Topshop, lululemon and other great brands. Everything in the outfit I wore for this post is from Plato’s Closet. The tank top is Billabong, the shorts are Free People, the boots are Zara, and the hat and flyaway are vintage. I find resale shopping to be very rewarding because it is a great way to be fashionably sustainable (and $14 for a Free People dress sounds much better than $168!).
I am stoked to be a Style Guru this summer and can’t wait to share the styles of the fashionistas I find on Indiana University’s campus!
