Hi fashionistas/os! My name is Mary Jo Gordon, also known as MJ and I am a senior Communications major and Spanish minor at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. I am elated to be a newbie Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I hope I can bring some rad fashion to a well-established, completely rad fashion site!
There wasn’t a pivotal moment when I found my love for fashion and I definitely haven’t been embracing the latest trends since I was a wee tot. However, my Fashionista senses have been tingling for quite some time. While in elementary school I remember thinking to myself, “There’s got to be more to life than grubby, playground tennis shoes.” High school brought my acquisition of a personal laptop and subsequently the world wide web of fashion. I’ve been reading fashion blogs like The Man Repeller and visiting e-commerce sites like NASTY GAL ever since then. My strongest interest lies in e-commerce, where I hope I can someday combine my love for fashion and photography.
Spending my fall ’14 semester on the southern coast of Spain really solidified my interest in fashion and desire to pursue it as a career. Stepping off your soil and experiencing a different world, especially in fashion, is underrated. Along with off-the-shoulder knit tops, those are definitely underrated.
If I could swap closets with anyone, I would not have to think twice. It’s Beyoncé, always Beyoncé. Picture Queen Bey in the latest music video, “Feelin’ Myself” and know that I will forever be trying to copy any and every outfit she wore.
