Hey, everyone. My name is Mary Kate Baehl and I am incredibly excited to be a Style Guru for the fall semester. I am a senior at Mount St. Mary’s University, and I love it. I’m never without a cup of coffee and my trusty water bottle. I’m short, my hair is wildly curly and I’m constantly running around.
I loved fashion since I was little—I was the most stylish girl on the block. Thanks mom. As I’ve gotten older, I realized how much fashion is a form of self-expression and how much of a statement it is. I think it is really important to have clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in. My style is eclectic, just like me. I have outfits that are preppy, hippie, edgy and everything in between. I love oversized tops. The flowy aspect is the perfect blend of comfy and cute. My favorite magazine is NYLON, and I’ve read it religiously since sophomore year of high school.
My outfit is a little bit of a blend. I’ve got my comfy, striped T-shirt dress, which has been pretty trendy this summer. I’ve paired it with a light green anorak jacket. I really love this jacket because of its versatility. It is light enough to wear on a breezy summer day. It is also large enough that sweaters or fleeces could be layered for fall. I’m wearing raspberry pink Vans with brown laces. I own two pairs of Vans, and I would have to say they are way more comfortable than Converse.
My sartorial signature is definitely my silver rings. I always am wearing all five of them. I have a Claddagh ring, which was given to me by my great aunt—a Claddagh ring is an Irish friendship ring. I also wear an ocean wave ring, as the beach is my favorite place to be. The silver swirl on my thumb, I found at a thrift store in high school for three dollars. I wear my trinity knot ring that I got at an Irish Dance Competition, and I also wear my Mount St. Mary’s University class ring. I am wearing my favorite earrings that add some subtle sparkle to any outfit and my tiny silver hoop piercing. This outfit is functional, fashionable and a go-to for anything from class to errands to dates. Thanks for reading!
