Hey Fashionistas! I am very excited for the opportunity to connect with all of you who love the fashion industry and take pride in their personal style like me! I am a junior at Indiana University, majoring in Journalism with a specialization in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. My dream career is to work for a PR firm that specializes in working with fashion brands. The combination of the business and fashion industries is intriguing to me, especially fashion communication.
At a young age, I was always that kid who wore her princess costume to the grocery store and cat-eye sunglasses with a scarf to play on the swings. My dad tells me that he knew even then that my love of fashion would carry over to adulthood, and apparently, dads are always right.
I would describe my current style as alternative or “edgy” with bohemian influences, but my style is always changing. I love layering feminine pieces, chunky leather boots and minimalist jewelry and the half-up bun hairstyle is totally my staple for the fall.
My fashion influences come from everywhere: my friends, family, work at Urban Outfitters, Instagram…it’s never ending!. I’m inspired by Amanda Shadforth from the Oracle Fox Blog and her black and white minimalism, as well as the sister designers of Rodarte for their artistic approach to modern clothing.
I’m excited about the new jewel tone ’70s vibe for fall and the new marble trend for home accessories. I hope to update you on all new trends for the fall as the semester goes on! I chose to wear a loose black romper with a light denim jacket and chunky boots for class because it’s comfortable yet structured for walking around campus all day. I’m so excited to start my CollegeFashionista journey this semester and would love hear your comments on style here at Indiana University!
