Hi there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Maura Gary and I am currently a sophomore at Indiana University. I am a Nursing major, but I have always had an interest in the fashion world! I am super excited about beginning my first internship this fall as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista!
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved dressing up in my mom’s clothes and running around the house in her boots that practically consumed my legs. I definitely got my sense of fashion from my mom, something I will always admire and thank her for. My love for fashion deepened, though, when I started watching Laguna Beach featuring, the now successful fashion designer, Lauren Conrad. I followed her life up until the very last episode of The Hills. I wanted to be her. I mean, I basically am her since her and I share the same birthday… just a few years apart. Close enough, right?
I am from a very small, rural town in Indiana. I have always had the desire to get out of Indiana and roam through different cities everywhere, especially the fashion capitals of the world. Although I have never been, New York entices me more and more with every episode of Gossip Girl I watch. I’m convinced that, out of nowhere, I will wake up and be Eleanor Waldorf one day.
My favorite places to shop at right now are at boutiques such as Hope’s, RaeLynn’s and Simple Addiction. I love finding good deals on clothing, accessories, shoes, or anything that I can post about on Instagram and Twitter. It’s definitely addicting for me! With that being said, most of my outfits are bought on a college student budget. Most of my friends come to me with style advice, and I’m pretty sure that’s probably the main reason why! Hey, who doesn’t enjoy a great deal that can make you look fabulous?
