Hey there! My name is Maya James, and I am currently a freshman at Marist College studying fashion merchandising. I’ve always loved fashion and hope to someday have a career with it. I can’t really imagine my life going any other way.
I find fashion to be one of the best ways to change an attitude. I strongly stand by the phrase “dress to impress” as I believe the way you present yourself directly correlates with the way you hold yourself. I, personally, am much more confident and outgoing when I feel great in my clothes.
An important aspect to everyday fashion comes down to one key word: experiment. Find what makes you the happiest. Find what makes you feel the most confident. Experiment with your style and try not to fall into just one. Variety is key. Mix and match and put clothing pieces together that you would have never thought went together. Trial and error will prove that sometimes mixing the unconventional creates something magnificent.
For this look, I was headed to a casual dinner party, so I wanted to stick with my favorite motto, comfy-chic. I paired an oversized, gray sweatshirt from H&M with black jeans from Nine West. I accompanied the look with some classic black, slip-on Vans. Oh, and of course I had to use a leopard print umbrella to hide from some freezing Connecticut rain. I couldn’t forget to slip on some dainty jewelry either; it’s all in the details.
See you soon fellow Fashionistas!
