STYLE GURU BIO: McKenna Davis

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is McKenna Davis and I am finishing up my senior year (wait, what) at the University of Arkansas. I am studying Apparel Merchandising and Product Development as well as pursuing a minor in Marketing.

I am from Memphis, Tennessee and yes, I have been to Graceland on multiple occasions. I grew up in a suburb outside of the metropolitan area called Collierville. One of its main attractions includes the historic downtown square where one can stumble upon America’s Best Main Street! Collierville gives off the homey vibes and I enjoyed growing up there but I do not see myself moving back after school mainly because the fashion industry is not as dominant as it is in other parts of the country.

I would describe my style as eclectic. I love to dress up but I also really love the casual laidback style. My current favorite items include cutout booties, distressed denim, chambray shirts as jackets and shirts with a unique component such as backless, slits up the side and of course this Cynthia Rowley top with the buttons down the back.

Ever since I was three years old, I knew that I was passionate about the fashion industry. It all started when my mom went out of town and my dad was on wardrobe duty for his sassy three year old daughter… As you know this can be a challenge for any man so at the mere age of three years old, I stood up in my crib and told my dad what he had picked out was not going to work (but in goo goo’s and gah gah’s). Even as a little girl, I was never interested in drawing horses or flowers. My doodles consisted of outfits that would fill up several notebooks that now just lay around my parents’ house and collect dust. So if you, my readers, do not know me personally you may think I wanted to pursue the production side but I do not want to take that path. As I said earlier, I am very interested in bridal and formal wear. Post-graduation, I would love to start out as a buyer before eventually joining forces with my business-savvy mom and opening up our own bridal boutique.

So in the meantime, I will be finishing up my degree and writing monthly articles for CollegeFashionista. I cannot wait for you all to see what I have in store for my upcoming articles.
