Winter is upon us and you can call me a happy camper–but not because I am a fan of cold weather. I love winter for two reasons: sweaters and sitting by the fire, gazing at the snow. Unfortunately, there seems to be an inherent lack of snow this season, but I’m staying positive–and very warm–in cozy sweaters and chic booties this winter season.
So, I should start by saying hey fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Megan Helberg and I am a junior studying journalism and mass communication at the University of Iowa. This is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I am very excited to continue this opportunity.
If you’ve read any of my previous work, you will know that I tend to err on the side of casual when it comes to fashion. I prefer styles that are trendy but also comfortable. I’m obsessed with sweaters because of their versatility. With all of the holiday parties that I have attended and my personal need to impress potential employers, I’ve had to step it up this season and turn my usually casual wardrobe into something more chic and professional. This has been a breeze thanks to all of the cute sweaters in which I have invested.
This winter, I have been dressing up comfy sweaters with stylish scarves and trading in the usual Converse for booties with heels. I also have a pull towards neutrals which is obvious in the outfit I have chosen to feature for this bio. This cream sweater is super soft and can be dressed up with a cute scarf or some statement jewelry. My black skinny jeans are a wardrobe staple and these taupe booties have worked to tie together several winter looks for me. I love this particular outfit because it can be worn out with friends or to family get-togethers.
