STYLE GURU BIO: Megan Perrero

Hey ladies and gents, I’m Megan Perrero. I’m a Style Guru for Columbia College Chicago. I’m currently a freshman majoring in journalism and minoring in public relations. Columbia is such a unique liberal arts school because of our emphasis in the arts. Each person has their own original style, and I’m excited to document this throughout the next few months.

Going to school in Chicago is one of the best things that’s happened to me. Living in the loop means I live directly downtown. The Magnificent Mile is only a few blocks away along with Millennium Park and the Art Institute. Chicago itself has its original style, something that has greatly influenced my own style since moving here.

If you ask me to describe my personal style, I will most likely make a face at you followed by a long, awkward pause. Between me and you, I have no clue how to describe my personal style. I love being comfortable, but I’d be happy to sacrifice that for a pair of heels. Dark wash skinny jeans are my best friends, but I could never turn down a killer dress. The one thing I’m sure of is that bright colors are not for me (sorry lime green). However, if I had to give you three words surrounding my personal style, I’d choose casual yet chic and always put together.

I’m wearing a white fitted dress from Forever 21 along with black tights, black booties, my favorite necklace from Akira and a few rings. It’s nothing too over the top, but it’s very put together and ready for whatever. Most of my outfits will be centered around black, white, boots and some sort of lipstick.

There are a few important things you should know about me, but don’t worry, I won’t bore you with a long list of things—just three. The first is coffee is life. The second thing is that I love dogs more than anything. The third thing is that the perfect lipstick shade completes pretty much any outfit.

With all of this being said, I’m super pumped for this semester and what fashion inspiration I can find on the streets of Chicago! Be prepared to see a wide variety of individualistic styles from us here at Columbia. Until next time, darlings.
