Hello fashion lovers! My name is Meghan Davis and I am a junior at the University of Kentucky majoring in of course, Merchandising, Textiles and Apparel with a minor in Journalism. While Lexington, Kentucky may seem like an odd place to have picked as my destination for four years, I have found it to be one of the trendiest small cities I have traveled to. While New York may have seemed like the easy choice, considering I come from New Jersey, I was excited to escape my small town and see what other areas of the country have to offer in fashion and I have not been disappointed.
I grew up watching Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port on The Hills, and always wanted to be them. I envied all of the work they embarked on such as working for Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone. Long before I was watching that show I knew I wanted to do something with fashion; I begged my mother when I was in middle school to please buy me a mannequin for my room and I promised that every night before school I would put my outfit for the next day on the mannequin—needless to say that excuse worked!
I’m excited to be starting my internship with CollegeFashionista because I think it will help me figure out a little more of what I want to do with my future. As of right now I am thinking that I would like to work for a fashion magazine whether it is styling or writing fashion articles, but I would also not be opposed to doing PR for a fashion company.
Fashion is not just fabric to me; it is oh so much more. Clothing can help you to understand someone, what they are feeling or even who they are. Most of my friends would say that I dress with a lot of color and in their language, with a lot of “frill”. So, if that means that I am outgoing, fun and willing to take risks, I love it! But, I’m also not opposed to changing it up and once in a while changing my style.
While I know what I like to wear and what I think looks good on myself, I’m excited to hunt down kids on campus, pick out my favorite looks and share them with you all. Now let’s go see whose being a Fashionista/o this semester!
