Hi fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Melanie and I’m super stoked to start my second semester as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista. I’m currently a third-year journalism student minoring in French at the University of Florida.
My CollegeFashionista career began one short semester ago when I was still unsure what my future held. Now, five months and a few internships later, I think I’m finally getting around to figuring out what exactly I want to do (sorry mom and dad!). Through CollegeFashionista I’ve met some pretty rad and super stylish people: something I thought was impossible in the little swampy town of Gainesville, Florida where tank tops and running shorts are the official college uniform.
My closet is still as chock-full of monochrome T-shirts and unnecessary shoe purchases from last semester. My style is basically the same as it was in my early teens only I’ve swapped out the horrendous Abercrombie & Fitch logo T-shirts and flare jeans for overpriced basics and ripped black jeans. However, I have been known to buy into quite a few trends (camouflage jackets and hologram prints) because as soon as I enter a store I seem to lose all self-control.
Though my time has been short, writing for CollegeFashionista has given me the perfect opportunity to keep my fashion blogging skills sharp and my creative juices flowing. This summer takes me back to the Big Apple for an internship with NYLON magazine, so stay tuned every Wednesday for fashion here in the concrete jungle. I’m excited for what this summer has in store and if I can inspire any Fashionistas/os out there, well that’s pretty rad too.
