Hello beautiful people! My name is Melanie Guzman but I rather just be called Mel. I am currently a freshman at Miami Dade College majoring in business and marketing. Hopefully, one day taking my degree to the fashion and beauty world. I’m very excited to finally be a part of the CollegeFashionista team for the summer semester!
My love for fashion started ever since I was a young girl, everyone in my family knows me as the fashionista. I guess it was meant to be! Growing up I remember looking up to Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale, always wanting to dress just like them. I would spend hours at the mall with my grandma trying on basically the entire store and I was only nine years old! I’ve always had a strong sense of personal style, which has evolved over the years. Just like everyone else I’ve been through very awkward stages but instead of looking back and feeling extremely embarrassed, I believe it has taught me to never restrict myself when it comes to trends. Having more than just one style is unique and it’s not only what fashion is all about but also what I’m about.
What exactly is fashion to me? It’s a form of identity and showing others who I am through my choices of either clothing, accessories, shoes or etc.. Clothing for me isn’t just about utility, but a form of expression. I could go from wearing a T-shirt with boyfriend jeans to wearing a cute little dress with some stylish heels. My personal style is always changing on a weekly basis, some days I wake up wanting to dress girly and other days I wakeup feeling edgy which is why I don’t like to label my style. That’s the best part of it all, dressing up everyday and deciding how you want to present yourself.
