My name is Melissa Cavrell. I’m a junior at SUNY New Paltz, where I major in Public Relations and minor in Political Science. This is my third time being a Style Guru and I’m excited to keep blogging! I love this internship so much because it gives me the opportunity to indulge my love of fashion and strengthen my skills as a writer.
Street style is a fabulous thing to watch because, as Grace Coddington once said, “always keep your eyes open. Keep watching. Because whatever you see can inspire you.” This is very true and also the reason that CollegeFashionista is great because it provides students with street style, not only from their own campuses, but also ones across the world. All of the outfits I’ve photographed and blogged about inspire me.
I love to walk through campus and look at all the different styles around me. Style speaks and it tells a story about its wearer. We all unknowingly reveal a lot about ourselves through the way we dress. Another quote I love is “fashion is about something that comes from within you.” Ralph Lauren said that and what I believe he meant was that we all want to express our genuine selves and fashion is one way we do that. Our personal style is a unique expression of something we are trying to communicate.
SUNY New Paltz has an amazing sense of community and within that community are exceptional individuals who have unique styles that I can’t wait to showcase what our amazing campus has to offer!
