Hey there! My name is Melissa Ly. I’m a senior at Temple University in Philadelphia studying media business and entrepreneurship. I’m looking to work in the fashion, music and entertainment industry in New York City, Philadelphia or Los Angeles upon graduating. I’m passionate about the world of marketing, public relations and advertising. You can always find me reading articles on fashion, music or tech. I wake up to the snapchat feeds of Refinery29 and Buzzfeed. I’m also addicted to Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest where I’m constantly looking for visual inspiration.
Some of my inspiration comes from Chriselle Lim (The Chriselle Factor), Aimee Song (Song of Style) and Eva Chen (Former Lucky Editor, now Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram). I love how they’ve used social media platforms and personal style to express themselves. They’ve innovated the fashion industry with their use of technology and social media.
Inspired by my favorites, I enjoy coming up with concept themed photo shoots with friends and scouting for new locations. In my free time I like to try out new food spots in Philly and take day trips back to Brooklyn, New York, where I grew up.
Throughout the years, my style and passions have grown in so many different ways. I’m always looking to try something new. In these photos, I’m wearing a thrifted Amanda Smith Petite Dress, but you can find similar silhouettes and patterns at H&M, Zara and Old Navy.
As someone who grew up reading fashion magazines I’m excited to share all of the amazing style at Temple University with you. Here’s to a great spring semester!
