Hi there! My name is Melissa, and I’m a senior public relations major and music industry minor at Syracuse University. It’s a new year full of promise and a fresh start. Â Every year, I look forward to what’s to come in this new semester, but in honor of my last semester with you as a Style Guru, I thought I’d share some important I’ve learned in the last two years.
First, red lipstick is not just for special occasions. I was always afraid of red lipstick, but I’ve learned that it’s just what you need for a boost of confidence or to make any look special. Red lipstick, even just on its own, stands out with a sense of romance.
After four years in snowy Syracuse, I can safely say that puffer coats are not the answer to cold weather. Moving out of tropical Miami, it took me a couple of years to find my go-to pieces that don’t rob me of my sense of style. Just like with this look, I pair my recent go-to coat with some feminine elements like this lace top and some heeled boots. You can never go wrong with adding some small rings – my obsession with cool rings still stands to this day.
Since this is my last lesson, I’ll leave you with is this: don’t be afraid of trying something new. From applying to CollegeFashionista to studying abroad in London, every single bold move has paid off – even when it didn’t go as planned.
I’m excited to start my last semester and show you some of the rad Fashionista’s that have inspired my while at Syracuse University. Make sure to follow all the adventures here and on my Instagram and YouTube channel. Here’s to a rad year!
