STYLE GURU BIO: Meredith Gosnell

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Meredith, and I am a sophomore at The College of William and Mary pursuing a degree in economics. I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for my second semester. The temperatures have finally begun to drop, and it’s starting to feel like winter outside, which means it’s the perfect time to experiment with layering. You can break out those new winter boots you treated yourself to this summer or your favorite sweater.

While I don’t necessarily love the freezing temperatures during winter and the feeling of numb fingers and toes, I do love winter fashion. My riding boots and winter coat are probably my two favorite pieces I own, and I love being able to wear them just about every day.

On one of probably the coldest days thus far this winter season, I opted for a very layered look with a very simple color palette. Most of the time I stick to blacks and grays and a pop of color with olive green. During the winter, I start just about every look with a basic T-shirt, the perfect layering piece. Over my black T-shirt, I wore a warm black sweater, which was perfect for these below freezing days typical of Williamsburg during the dead of winter. I paired these basics with my favorite piece I’ve bought this season, a pair of gray suede leggings. They are so warm and comfortable, and they pair very well with the basics that characterize the majority of my wardrobe. I finished off the look with my favorite winter coat and riding boots, two things every Fashionista needs and shouldn’t be afraid to splurge on. When running out the door, it’s important to have a purse that you can throw everything in when you’re in a hurry, and this Tory Burch bag is perfect.  With these freezing temperatures, a simple scarf is a must-have accessory and the perfect final touch to any look!

Thanks for reading Fashionistas/os, and I can’t wait to show off William and Mary’s amazing style again this semester!
