Hello beautiful people! My name is Mia Chyung, and I’m so excited to be back and have the chance to write for CollegeFashionista for a second time! This fall I will be a sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles. I’m still undecided in my major, but hey, I’ve got a little bit of time. Regardless, I hope to one day be an integral part of the fashion industry and keep fashion as a part of my life.
Here are a few fun facts about me to get the ball rolling: I was born and raised in eastern Pennsylvania, so I know some of the ins and outs of both coasts. I am an adventurous soul and love traveling anywhere new, immersing myself in language, culture and nature. I love to document my life and surroundings with pictures and often carry around my phone, camera, GoPro or all three. I could live on Kraft mac ’n cheese for the rest of my life, in fact I’m pretty sure I did over spring break.
So now let’s get on to the real reason why I’m writing—the fashion. Fashion means so much more than just dressing myself every morning, and it has and will always be one of the fundamental ways in which I express myself. My personal style changes a lot, and I would say that it moves along a spectrum from very casual on one end to more fashionable and put together on the other end. Some days I opt for the easy out and wear a pair of running shorts and a UCLA T-shirt because yay for school spirit and because I’m a college student who gets lazy sometimes. But when I’m going out with my friends or going to a concert or anything that requires a real outfit, I definitely look for anything boho or edgy. Basically, I wish that a Free People store was my personal closet and Vanessa Hudgens my personal stylist. One can dream! In this outfit I show you something that falls in the middle of the spectrum, which is what I tend to lean towards the most. I paired my black romper with a flannel tied around the waist and a black lace bralette just for some extra detail. For accessories I chose a choker necklace with a flower charm and a pink gemstone attached to a string of black chord, both of which I made myself. And my shoes are Stan Smith by adidas sneakers and have been my favorite thing to wear this summer.
I have a good feeling about my second year at UCLA. I can’t wait for football games, going out with my friends, exploring more of the vibrant city of Los Angeles and even starting classes. So keep checking back to see the cool clothes and accessories that are going to accompany all of these fun upcoming events. I can’t wait to see what exotic outfits L.A. will have in store.
