STYLE GURU BIO: Michaella Niro

Hi there! My name is Michaella Niro, I am a fourth year at Northeastern University and still have one year to go. I am a Marketing and Political Science major and have loved my time as a Husky. I have been told that in order to work retail you have to be “some kind of crazy.” Well, call me crazy because I have loved my time working at various retail jobs including Aerie and J.Crew. There is something so fulfilling knowing that you have the ability to impact someone’s day and make it better.

I love giving advice and cannot wait to share what cool trends I see in the beautiful city of Boston this summer. Ever since I was younger, I have been interested in fashion. In third grade, my friends and I each had “fashion binders” that not only included cut up pictures of things that we liked from magazines, but also “original sketches.” Although I never designed anything too impressive, my own personal style has definitely improved since third grade.

Some might call me preppy but I like to think of myself as someone who likes a clean, simple, and comfortable look. I love boyfriend jeans paired with a crewneck sweater, a statement necklace and flats. This summer you can expect some refreshing advice on cute dresses, printed rompers and whatever else I can find to make you feel your best. I’ll be sure to play around with some fun summer colors while still incorporating my staples; navy blue, gray and white. Get ready!

I get most of my inspiration from Pinterest and other people’s street styles. I love seeing how other people wear the same clothing in different ways. Finding your own style is such an eye-opening experience because you find out who you are. You determine things that you like and dislike and accept that sometimes, these things differ from other people. To find your own style is to become an individual, your own person and your own inspiration. Wear clothes that make you feel confident. To be completely cliche, Marilyn Monroe once said, “A smile is the best makeup any woman can wear.” So, be confident in your style. If you feel great, then you look great and that’s what matters.

Grab your shades and keep your eyes out for some bright trends coming your way!
