Hello my fellow Fashionistas of the internet!
Please allow me to introduce myself: my name is Michelle Nicole and I am a junior at Pace University in Lower Manhattan majoring in Marketing and Business Management.
Every year, I try to look for a new endeavor to embark on and this year is definitely no exception, which is why I am so happy to be joining the CollegeFashionista team for this fall semester! That being said, lets get down to what you really want to know, shall we?
Besides just being a nerd clocking hours in the library, I tend to spend my weekends wandering around the city, shopping the side streets of SoHo and posing for impromptu photoshoots with my best friends that often end up in an all night dance party.
From as  far back as I can remember, I have been an admirer of fashion, whether it was watching my mom take down the curlers in her hair, swipe a stroke of her perfectly red lipstick across her lips or tie a silk scarf around her neck to bring an outfit together; to this day, I credit her along with my grandmother for their effortless, classic style that I believe is the foundation of my style inspiration in almost every outfit that I put together.
Now we all know that our personal style is constantly evolving, sometimes for the better and sometimes, not so much; when I think of my personal style, I like to think of it as a collaboration of edgy, posh and boho. Edgy with a twist on classic colors like black and white with geo patterns and leather, posh with classic silhouettes and clean lines keeping the look simple and light and boho by softening up any look with a flowy blouse, a bell bottom and/or neutral colors.
If I had to wear one outfit for a year it would definitely be my go to look of a pair of heeled booties, a pair of jeans that fit like a glove (preferably skinny leg, but I am always willing to compromise when it comes to denim), a great hat that gives you that whole “model off duty” look, the perfect deep V-neck T-shirt and, of course, a vegan leather jacket to bring the whole look together!
I always say that fashion is such a personal journey and there really is no right or wrong way to express who you are, which is why I love it so much. If there’s any style advice for me to give it would be that fashion is your time to take risks, dress how you want and be confident in what you wear. Even if you’re not feeling your best, throw on what looks best and watch your whole esteem change and even if it doesn’t, fake it till you make it—am I right, ladies?
Be the best you, because everyone else is taken…I think someone famous once said that. Can’t wait to see all the fab fashion this semester has to hold. Until next time…
