‘‘’You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.” – Wayne Gretzky’ – Michael Scott’ – Michelle Vazquez
If you frequently watch The Office, as I do, then this quoting of a quote should seem familiar. If you don’t watch The Office, then I have one question for you: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
Anyway, hello fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Michelle Vazquez and I am a student at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently in my last semester and will end my undergrad career this upcoming December.
Honestly, as I write my last Style Guru bio for CollegeFashionista, I notice I never mentioned how I got into fashion.
It started with watching a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which led to reading and subscribing to Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. This ultimately led me to do my research on famous designers, from Coco Chanel to Raf Simons. I even started seeing what types of styles I prefer to match my attitude and personality and that is simple, minimalistic looks over extravagant ones. I really am one of those few words kind of person.
As I started immersing myself into all things fashion from campaigns to knowing the top models of each season, I realized it really is a different world.
I have seen that with this internship, since the beginning of this year when I first started. We, as Style Gurus, are like model agents: we look for specifics, we choose who to model for us, we take their pictures and we write about them. It seemed too good to be true at first, but it is and it has been one of the best experiences thus far!
This may read off as a goodbye, but it’s the exact opposite: a new beginning. I’m thrilled to see what my last semester at CSULB has to offer and to share it with you all. You know what they say, save the best for last!
