My all time favorite quote about fashion comes from one of TV’s most fashionable characters: Blair Waldorf, who says, “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.” The iconic Gossip Girl leading lady knew what she was talking about.
As a senior fashion and art student at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, fashion is my medium of choice when it comes to expressing myself. I am inspired by the late designer Alexander McQueen and the fine art elements of his designs. Some of my other favorite designers include Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Céline and The Kooples.
If I had to describe my style in three words I would say bohemian, artsy and free-spirited. For me there is simply no equivalent to an eclectic bohemian glamour when it comes to dressing. I gravitate towards classic shapes and pieces in neutral colors, but I add personality to my outfits with fun accessories and shoes and interesting textures of fabrics. Hats are one staple accessory I cannot live without! I base my style on European fashion, especially French designers. I have a passion for travel and learning other languages—I’ve been learning French for the last five years—which has also greatly influenced my style.
In my free time I love photography and my favorite subjects to photograph are people! I hope to be a stylist after college and work behind the scenes on photoshoots and backstage at fashion shows. I have always had an interest in blogging, so I am excited to have this opportunity with CollegeFashionista and show off some great styles for the summer!
