Hello Fashionistas/os! I’m Miranda Barrett, a new Style Guru for the University of Alabama. I’m a junior majoring in apparel design and minoring in creative writing.
Lots of people tell me that I don’t look or dress like a Southerner. I have to disagree—the South has a lot of style to offer, and I’m excited to bring a taste of that to CollegeFashionista from Bama’s campus. In July, I’ll be traveling to Paris to take fashion classes on a study abroad trip. I’m excited to bring you some Parisian street style for the second half of the summer!
As for my style, it can be described as classic, feminine and a little retro. I love feminine shapes, and I can almost always be found in skirts and dresses. I enjoy pops of color, and I’m a sucker for Peter Pan collars. Polka-dots dominate my closet. The classic colors I fall back on are navy, black and gray. I love a good mix of new and thrifted pieces because shopping on a  budget is crucial! My shoes and skirt are both thrifted, and I used a cute lunchbox as a purse because, well, why not? You can pick up a quirky bag like this one.
I have worked as a fashion photographer and stylist for about three years, styling lookbooks and fashion shows as well as shooting them. I believe fashion is important because of the undeniable impact it has on self-esteem and confidence. I’m so excited about being a Style Guru and look forward to seeing and sharing campus style across the world!
