Hello, everyone! I’m Miranda Barrett, a junior at the University of Alabama. This is my third semester working as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I am very excited to be back for the spring semester! This past year has been pretty exciting for me. During my first semester as a Style Guru this past summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Paris for a study abroad trip. I took fashion design classes and enjoyed finding Fashionistas in the city. The trip widened my perspective and understanding of fashion and encouraged me to make new style choices.
This look is a bit unusual for me, since I went out of my comfort zone—literally. A younger me would never be able to stand wearing a turtleneck. However, I’ve come to value the look! The second step outside my comfort zone is this maroon midi length wrap skirt. I love the cargo pocket and loop belt detail that makes it look modern. This outfit is something I look forward to wearing to an interview or for a presentation.
The look is pretty simple and flattering, which means it’s easy for anyone to put together. Just start with a high-waisted midi skirt (loose or fitted) and pair it with a crop top or tucked-in shirt. I love this turtleneck because it has long sleeves, which are always flattering and proportionally balance out any skin showing at your stomach. I used to think I couldn’t wear midi skirts because they would shorten my 5’5″ frame, but I’ve found the result to be quite the opposite! To finish the look I added a warm brown leather jacket and clutch with printed pumps.
I’m looking forward to the spring semester and I can’t wait to show more street style from the University of Alabama. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read my articles, and here’s to another RAD semester!
