Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Miranda Barrett, a senior at the University of Alabama. I can’t believe this is already my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! This summer semester finds me in New York City and I am excited to document some RADÂ street style here.
My personal style has become a lot more about comfort and simplicity. I still love feminine shapes and pops of color but I’m more interested in finding pieces that are easy to throw on and wear in several different types of situations. This dress is a piece I designed, draped and sewed myself this past semester. I wanted to make something with a modern shape that felt relaxed and wearable. This look would be great for a beach vacation or a casual night out with friends during the summer. The midi skirt is my favorite length right now and as always, I love a dress with pockets. Of course I had to go with blue, since that’s the color that completely dominates my closet (I may have a problem.) I paired it with simple brown sandals and a leather bag to keep it casual.
I’ve already seen lots of great street style just being in New York for less than a week. Much like Paris last summer, New York has a fascinating blend of every kind of person out there. It makes for great people watching and offers plenty of ideas for new outfits and styles. I’m excited to bring some New York street style to the University of Alabama page and see what other adventures the city brings. Here’s to a RADÂ summer semester!
