Hi Fashionistas/os! My name is Molly McElligott, and I am thrilled to join the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru. I am a psychology and graphic design major at Seton Hall University. The two are very different, but I plan to incorporate them through advertising and marketing. I stay busy with Alpha Kappa Psi, various clubs at school, writing for the Odyssey and work.
I am from a small town in Delaware, but I go to school right outside of New York City. I love spending time in suburbia, but frequently take trips to Annapolis, Baltimore, DC, Philly and of course, New York City. The extreme difference between city life and suburban life has allowed me to see a wide range of fashion. I plan to use this internship to show off the different styles at the different locations.
My personal style is very feminine (even most of my workout clothes are hot pink). I have an obsession with bright patterns, colors, kate spade and most importantly, floral. Very frequently I have been called out for my wardrobe consisting of mostly floral patterns, but I love them more than anything else so it’s okay. I mix and match bright patterns and colors with classic black to balance it out. To me, less is more, so I tend to keep outfits simple and no fuss.
My outfit today is perfect for summer errands. The black, high-low maxi dress is extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down, all depending on the accessories. This time I paired it with simple gold necklaces, classic gladiator sandals and one of my favorite kate spade bags for a pop of color. Of course my bag has a pom on it, since I’m beyond obsessed with them.
I look forward to the next few months where I’ll be showcasing off the different styles I come across.
Stay tuned for style advice and inspiration!
