Hey fashion lovers! My name is Monica Mayer and I am a fashion and textile management major at North Carolina State University. Fashion has always been a passion of mine and I can’t wait to share my style with all of you. I have always strived to live a creative lifestyle filled with travel, fashion and spontaneous adventures. I have traveled to Italy and, more recently, Hong Kong. Domestically, I grew up in North Carolina, spending most of my time in the Lake Norman and Raleigh areas, but I have traveled around different states within the U.S. as well. My adventures overseas and within the United States have helped to diversify my taste, specifically related to fashion.
My style is ever-changing and ranges from street grunge to very feminine. Block heels are my favorite closet staple and I have recently developed a new obsession with blazers and other layering pieces. This particular outfit incorporates both of these elements with a Western vibe, inspired by my stay in Nebraska. The light-wash denim jacket contrasts the dark navy color of the outfit’s foundation pieces. Denim jackets are perfect for summer and look great with the sleeves cuffed! I integrated a heeled leather bootie to add a more feminine appeal and finished the outfit with a silky neck scarf as a more elegant element to balance the rugged denim textures. I am a leather loyalist when it comes to my shoes. Leather achieves a quality that other materials just can’t match. Additionally, the chunky heel enables me to walk easily on uneven surfaces without having to compromise the height.
