What’s cooking, good looking? I’m Morgan Bocknek, your local feminist killjoy and connection to this summer’s trends and looks at Ryerson University.
For those unfamiliar with our Toronto campus, Ryerson is home to one of Canada’s top fashion programs. Students can be seen sporting the avant-garde and personal designs every day of the week. I’ll be plugging you right into the hive mind of our forward-looking fashion capital.
I’ll be traveling to the Calgary Stampede and FVDED in the Park in Vancouver this season. So stay tuned, I’ll be sure to keep all you Fashionista/os updated on the sights and styles of the west.
When I’m not traveling across the country, I can be found studying journalism, making hipsters coffee at an off-campus café or taking photos for a Toronto community newspaper. I love going to concerts and movies!
Ninety percent of the time, I’m overdressed in some form of business casual, preppy getup. The other 10 percent, I look like I’m heading to a David Bowie cover band concert. My signature pieces are a black, floor length cashmere coat that I inherited from my mom, and Browns’ Chelsea boots. You’ll never see me with unpainted nails.
My style has remained consistent throughout my teenage years, typically opting for the more classic and sophisticated, in neutral colors. As a result, my closet is quite literally bursting at the seams. Oh, and I’m funny, too.
To get the look I’m sporting here, check out Topshop for the cord skirt, Father John Misty’s merch site for the pin and Steve Madden for the loafers.
Here’s to putting your best foot forward and stepping into summer 2016, as one of our local musicians might call it. His name is Drake, have you guys heard of him?
