Hey Fashionistas, my name is Morgan and I’ve been a Style Guru at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA for four semesters now. Now that this is my fourth semester writing a bio, I thought instead of simply explaining my style as I’ve done in past semesters, that I would lay out my fashion goals for this summer.
I believe that in every STYLE GURU BIO that I’ve written prior to this one, I’ve always claimed that I have an extremely monochromatic, black and white style. I’d say this is still true with my wardrobe being 80 percent black, white and denim. It’s easy to match and style and normally I don’t have to think much when I put together an outfit. Because of those reasons, I’ve never strayed away from my monochromatic lifestyle. However, my goal this summer is to be more adventurous with my style. My fellow Style Gurus (past and present) have been constantly influencing me to change up my style and try more fun and bright pieces. I’ve already been eyeing this beautiful red tank top from Zara, a chartreuse silk slip from ASOS and a cute top from UNIF. Though my style is more adventurous in color, I find that it’s easier for me to step outside my comfort zone if I’m working with simple and classic silhouettes that pair with a lot of items.
I think this “style experiment” will also help me define and narrow down what I want my style to be leading into August when I leave for South Korea for four months in a study abroad exchange. I know that I’m not going to be able to pack every pair of shoes I own or every dress, so I want to know now what works and what doesn’t so I can be better prepared then.
I hope you Fashionistas take the same opportunity this summer to change things up and step outside your box when it comes to fashion. Look out for my coverage of style around Charlottesville this summer as well!
